Orazio Labbate

Orazio Labbate was born in 1985 in Mazzarino, Sicily. Defined by critics as the founder of Sicilian Gothic, he has published the novels Lo Scuru (Tunué, 2014), Suttaterra (Tunué, 2017) and Spirdu (Italo Svevo Edizioni, 2021). He was on the jury of the XXXV edition of the Calvino Prize, is a literary critic for Corriere della Sera, and is editor of the experimental fiction series Interzona by Polidoro Editore Press. His novel Lo Scuru went viral and is being made into a film with director William Lombardo, to be released in June 2024. Labbate lives in Milan.
